With the holiday season now in the rear-view mirror, I’m looking forward to the New Year. This year marks the first time I’m not doing resolutions.
Why? Because I find them to be a waste of time. Why should I make promises to myself that I don’t keep all year ’round, and re-make them the following year?
This year, I did something else. Instead of waiting to get out of shape, I simply decided around Thanksgiving to rededicate myself to my workout habits, and keep them going through the holiday season, come hell or high water.
I took a look back at 2015, when I did very little during the season, and decided that wouldn’t happen this year. With 2016 now behind us, I can say I was successful.
In 2015, I only got a handful of workouts (seven, to be exact) in between Thanksgiving and the new year. This year, I doubled that number, and feel like I’m in much better shape than I was the year before.
Now, instead of having to start from nothing, I’ve got my base in place heading into 2017. I’ve got some races and goals set up for ’17 (will be posted soon), and I intend to meet them.
I’m looking at you, Parkway Classic!
